Welcome to Dominic Zunis Memorial Foundation

March 23, 2013

On March 23, 2013 Dominic was on his way home, it was about 7:30 in the morning.  He was supposed to meet his brother for lunch later that morning, but that would not happen. He went through a stop sign at Mennel Road and Rt. 57 and in an instant our lives changed forever.  In the days, weeks, and months that followed we, his family and friends, tried to make some sense out of a senseless act. And because of that it has become very important for us to keep him close in spirit.  We've  tried to come up with a way to best honor his memory. Creating this foundation and helping others is the best way and the most "Dominic" way we could think of.  Dominic was so full of life and love and his most famous saying was "It would be rude to say No"  So in his honor and in his name we created the DOMINIC ZUNIS MEMORIAL FOUNDATION to support High School Sports and to educate parents and students why it is most certainly OK to say NO!!! This is a tragedy that will never go away.  And this tragedy happens every single day to some unsuspecting family just like it did ours.

It's Important to us

Mission Statement

The DOMINIC ZUNIS MEMORIAL FOUNDATION is a Public Charity supporting high school athletic programs and facilitating post-secondary education for high school athletes. The Foundation is also active in community events and programs that educate parents and students about the dangers, and consequences, of underage drinking and impaired driving.  This DZMF operates under the IRS 501(c)(3) tax codes. Working With Local Leaders, Law Enforcement And Community

We are working with local leaders, law enforcement and in the community to educate our young people not only of  the dangers of drinking and driving but of the aftermath drinking and driving causes their family and friends for the rest of their lives.

Working With Lorain County Health Dept. and Safe Community Coalition

As of April of this year there have been 9 fatal crashes and 11 deaths to date. 6 of them alcohol or drug related and 1 motorcycle with alcohol.  All of these people left someone to mourn them and those people will never be the same.

We want to hear from you!!!

I am nothing special, of this I am sure.  I am a common man with common thoughts and I've led a common life.  There are no monuments dedicated to me and my name will soon be forgotten, but I've loved another with all my heart and soul, and to me, this has always been enough.
