Become an Ambassador
We recognize that the biggest influence on the thoughts and behaviors of young adults is their own peers. Zunis is always looking for influential young adults that are striving to set a good example and take a leadership role in amongst their peers.
Parents and Community Leaders
Create a Plan
Be clear about your expectations regarding underage drinking, and have a dialogue with your young adult regarding the risks and consequences. The key word is dialogue, which means this should not be yet another preaching moment from mom or dad. Allow your child to give their thoughts and share their challenges and experiences. Resist the urge to sermonize, as this will invariably be met with resistance.
Also, formulate a plan so that if your child finds themselves in an unexpected or dangerous situation, they can count on you to be there for them, regardless of the situation. It is always best to get them out of harm’s way as quickly and safely as possible.

Take the Host Pledge
Pledge to avoid providing alcohol to underage young adults. While this may seem obvious, some parents mistakenly believe that if they provide a “safe” environment and host a party, they can control the ramifications of alcohol consumption. This misconception is dangerous and can lead to dire consequences. Pledge to always be responsible when hosting parties and events.
